  Questions

Impounds

Vehicles are impounded by police departments many times every day.
Often, people ask the same basic questions. We have provided answers to many of these questions below.

What do I need to get my vehicle out of impound?
In order to redeem your vehicle, please have the following available:

1. Year, Make and Model of Vehicle
OR License Plate Number (Last six of the VIN also works);
2. Driver's License or Photo Identification Card; The person named on the release must provide us with photo ID and the vehicle will only be released to that person.
3. Vehicle Release from Police Department
OR Proof of Ownership such as a valid vehicle registration, pink slip, rental agreement, etc.
In certain situations, a vehicle release is not required. For instance, if a vehicle was impounded because of an accident for safekeeping reasons, no release is necessary. However, if an accident was caused by driving illegally, it is likely a release is needed from the impounding police agency.
4. Payment in Cash we do not accept checks, money orders, credit cards, debit cards etc

Why do I need a Police release? Each police department has their own requirements. Please check with the department who impounded your vehicle.

Where can I get my release? From the impounding police department listed on the impound report you received at time of impound.

Where is my car located? The Police Agency that ordered the impound will have a record of which company towed the vehicle and were it resides. If you are still unsure, please provide us with the license plate or the last 6 numbers of the VIN. We use this information to search our records to verify if your vehicle is at one of our secure locations.

How much is it going to cost to pick up my car? Please call us when you are ready to pick up your vehicle and we will give you the current charges. The charges continue to accrue daily.

Why does it cost so much? These rates are set up in the police contracts. We are required by Oregon law to request vehicle records and obtain appraisals on all vehicles impounded by Police Agencies. The fees associated with this are attached to your account. Gate fees are assessed if you choose to retrieve your vehicle after normal business hours.
8:00 am to 6:00 pm in Eugene, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm in Springfield and Junction City

Storage Fees: The storage is calculated by Calendar Day in accordance with the State of Oregon Statutes.

Can I surrender the title? Unfortunately, we are unable to accept titles. In accordance with the State of Oregon Statutes, because we do not hold a dealer's license, all vehicles must go through the lien process and be sold at auction.

May I have my personal belongings? You may obtain any personal belongings from your vehicle as long as they are not in any way attached to the vehicle (speakers, stereo etc) and you have a picture ID and proof of ownership or your name is listed on the police report. You will need to sign an acknowledgement of financial responsibility letter before removing anything from your vehicle. If you arrive after normal business hours, a gate fee will be accessed.

The vehicle is in my name but I wasn't driving If you are the legally registered owner, you are ultimately responsible for your vehicle.

I was driving but it's not in my name If the registered owner can prove that they sold the vehicle to you, you will be held financially responsible. If you come and obtain your personal items out of the vehicle, you will be held financially responsible. If the vehicle truly belongs to someone else, they will be held financially responsible.

In the event your vehicle was in an accident and does not require a police release We still need the complete registered owner's information and a verbal release. This includes name, address, phone number, picture ID. When you are ready for the insurance to take your vehicle, we must receive a verbal "release" from you stating that we are allowed to give your vehicle to the insurance company or their representative.
